Majoya is a certified therapeutic harp practitioner — strumming the harp as a way to comfort the ill, grieving and dying. When she shared her dream, the owner of the holistic health center where she was working told her of a program where she might learn such a skill.

Beginning with harp teachers in Waterbury and Burlington to gain basic skills, she went on to become certified through the International Harp Therapy Program in San Diego, Calif.

Amazingly, Majoya realized, the director of this program, Christina Tourin, was the woman she had seen in her dream. It has been shown through studies that this entrainment has the effect of releasing muscle tension, reducing pain, lowering blood pressure, anxiety and stress as well as deepening the breath.

Music is regarded as pleasant by the body when it holds regular soundwave patterns. While disorganized soundwaves are experienced as noise, which create a stress response in our body, pleasing sounds increase the pleasure signals and chemicals sent from the brain cells.

According to a paper Majoya wrote, music in general activates every region of the brain, including the emotional and sensory regions. According to studies, rhythm also increases memory function. Foreshadowed by the serenity found in her dream, Majoya brings serenity to her clients when they need it most.
